• Robert “Chicken” Burke: Drums

    Native of Brooklyn, he received his first drum kit when he was 13 years old. He has been member of Toshi Reagon’s BIGLovely band for five years. He is a self-taught musician, whose talents include writing, arranging and producing. His debut album, titled Drugs: The Prescription for Miss America, features Hall of Fame members of George Clinton’s Parliament Funkadelic. He is currently working on his next release, titled Chicken & the Superstars.

  • Fred Cash, Jr.: Bass

    Native of Chicago, Fred has been touring with Toshi Reagon’s BIGLovely since 1998. Cash attended the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago. He has worked with such artists as Jean-Paul Bourelly, India Arie, Jerry Butler.

  • Judith Casselberry: Vocals and Acoustic Guitar

    Born in Denver, Colorado and raised in the U.S. Army (everywhere), Judith now resides in Brunswick, Maine, where she teaches as associate professor of Africana Studies at Bowdoin College. She has been playing music with her sister Toshi in various configurations since 1984 and is an original member of BIGLovely. She hopes to continue making music with Toshi until the day she closes her Black eyes.

  • Ganessa James: Bass

    Ganessa James is an electric bassist and singer/songwriter.  She has 20 years experience playing bass in soul, funk, and rock music bands.  Ganessa got her start on the independent music scene in Brooklyn NYC. She began working with Toshi Reagon in 2009 and continues to record and play in a selection of Toshi’s many incredible projects – and she’s honored to be a part of the BIGLovely family.

  • Kim Jordan: keyboards

    Kim, a gifted artist, keyboardist, producer, composer, arranger, vocal coach and promoter received her BA in music from Howard University. Upon graduation, Kim was immediately hired by and subsequently became musical director for the iconic jazz poet “Gil Scott Heron” until his death in 2011. She received International acclaim for her live performances from such publications as The London Guardian, The San Francisco Examiner, The Chicago Tribune, The Washington Post, Vibe and Billboard Magazines.

  • Ann Klein: guitar

    Ann plays guitar and mandolin and other things with strings. As a singer/songwriter, she has performed in Europe consistently for many years. She has written music for three documentaries for French television and has had her music used in television shows all over the world.

  • Shirazette Tinnin: drums

    Drummer, educator, clinician, author and health coach, Shirazette Tinnin was born and raised in North Carolina. As a child she would travel with her parents listening to them sing in large Southern Gospel groups up and down the east coast. Due to her musical family and surrounding peers, her initial gospel influences eventually grew and branched out into jazz, soul, and many other styles of music. From the time that she was 4 years old, she knew that she would play the drums.

  • Adam Widoff: Electric Guitar

    Adam is a multi-instrumentalist who lives in Woodstock, NY. Starting with piano at age five, he has since haphazardly studied several instruments and musical traditions including Balinese Gamelan orchestra with Nyoman Astita and North Indian classical music with Ali Akbar Khan and Jamaluddin Bhartiya. Widoff has recorded and performed with Lenny Kravitz, Toshi Reagon, David Torn, Kate Pierson and others. Current projects include Drugs: The Prescription for Miss America and Chicken & the Superstars.
